Bentley MCP servers win Gold Stevie Award

Bentley Systems, Incorporated, the infrastructure engineering software company, announced that its Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers for STAAD.Pro and MicroStation received the Gold Stevie Award for Technology Breakthrough of the Year in the Construction and Civil Engineering Technology category of the 2026 Stevie Awards for Technology Excellence.

The Stevie Awards recognize business achievements and contributions by organizations and professionals worldwide. More than 180 technology and business professionals judged this year’s nominations through independent scoring to determine award winners.

The award reflects Bentley’s work to make AI usable for infrastructure engineering by connecting AI assistants directly to applications such as STAAD.Pro and MicroStation. With Bentley’s MCP servers, engineers can express design intent in natural language, AI assistants can provide high-level reasoning and Bentley’s applications can execute modeling and analysis. Engineers remain in control throughout the process, with the ability to review the AI’s reasoning, adjust the model as needed and validate the design against accuracy, safety and compliance requirements using Bentley’s tools.

Bentley’s STAAD.Pro MCP server allows structural engineers to query structural models, define load cases, extract analysis results and support design optimization using their preferred AI assistants. Bentley’s MicroStation MCP server extends agentic workflows to CAD and BIM modeling. A recent MicroStation MCP server demonstration recreated the parametric geometry of London’s Gherkin tower from a text prompt, showing how AI assistants can carry out parametric design tasks inside MicroStation.

ARC Advisory Group described Bentley’s MCP approach as a structured path for applying AI in infrastructure engineering, allowing AI assistants to coordinate tasks through validated tools while engineers retain oversight, approval and final judgment.
