SMT deploys Siemens Teamcenter for medical device PLM

Siemens announced that Sahajanand Medical Technologies Ltd (SMT), a manufacturer of cardiovascular medical devices, has deployed Teamcenter software for product lifecycle management (PLM) from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio. The deployment establishes a digital thread connecting product development, quality and regulatory processes across the business.

As part of its digital transformation work, SMT selected Siemens to create a centralized environment for engineering, quality and program management data. The system is intended to provide a single source of product lifecycle information, improve collaboration across teams, support new product development and help meet global medical device requirements, including US FDA 21 CFR Part 820 and ISO 13485.

SMT uses Teamcenter capabilities for collaboration, classification, program planning and schedule management. The deployment also includes medical device-specific functions for design history files (DHF), device master records (DMR), change management and test and verification processes. These capabilities support traceability from requirements through design, manufacturing and quality activities.

The implementation was delivered by Siemens implementation partner ThinkInnov Solutions, which provided deployment, configuration and user onboarding services. The solution creates a unified PLM environment across SMT’s research and development and quality teams and supports digitized processes from requirements and risk analysis through product release and change execution.
